VOTING TO BUILD THE FUTURE:
GET INFORMED, GET REGISTERED, COMMIT TO VOTE
OF ELIGIBLE VOTERS ARE REGISTERED
OF REGISTERED VOTERS VOTED in 2016 ELECTION
OF REGISTERED MILLENNIAL VOTERS WAS THE HIGHEST WATER MARK FOR MILLENNIAL TURNOUT (2008)
** Millennials are now on par with Generation X (ages 35-51) and will soon be the largest voting block in America. If we mobilize, we will be the deciding factor.
Our First Vote, as stated in our introduction page, was created as a progressive social movement. However, popular issues such as Climate Change, civil rights, and education have always been important to a great majority of Americans, not just those who identify as "progressives." As millennials, these issues are very high on our priority list. There is consensus that climate change is real, people deserve quality education, and civil rights should extend to everyone regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. We think of these issues as "People Priorities" rather than "Party Priorities."
Our Main "People Priorities" :
EQUAL RIGHTS / INCLUSION
Our First Vote wishes to educate young voters about the facts regarding these issues that are promoted by reputable sources, so as to fully inform voters. From this factual baseline, we as voters can decide how we stand on the issues as individuals and cast our votes accordingly. It is pertinent in our democracy to keep our voters correctly informed on world issues, so as to avoid the spread of false information that could lead to unwanted outcomes in our elections.
Presently, we have three main goals at Our First Vote. First, to register as many eligible voters as possible. Second, informing
registered voters about progressive issues that impact our society in order to prepare voters to vote wisely and shape the world they want to live in. Lastly, committing registered voters to vote at the polls, in order to complete our mission of shaping the government we choose.

We, as the millennials of America, make up a HUGE voting block. We have the power to sway any election with our votes. It is our job to make sure we are informed about issues that affect our society and decide where we stand on these issues. The first step is getting informed about which candidates support our goals and our priorities so that we can make our votes count. This is how we shape the world that we will soon inherit and make it the best one possible.
In our democracy, if you are not a registered voter, you have no voice. If we want change in our society, we need to decide how we stand on the issues and take action. Our First Vote is a hub for factual, data-driven statistics and information on major issues that face our world. As young voters who will inherit this world, it is our responsibility to participate in democracy.
Our posts and links are from well-sourced media outlets and focus on how our current administration deals with the issues that we care most about. It is our job as voters to decide whether or not we agree with the actions taken by the current administration on the ENVIRONMENT, HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION, and EQUAL RIGHTS. With a factual background, voters can decide how they stand on the issues and vote accordingly. When people vote, change happens and democracy is strengthened. These issues affect each and every one of us. It is a right and a privilege to cast a vote. If you want to shape the world, get informed and commit to vote!
